Catchin' up.....

Alright folks, I’m moving right along....

How far along are you? 28 weeks today!

How are you feeling? Can’t complain. I’m having a healthy, normal pregnancy and I am grateful for a healthy baby! I’m a bit tired these days, pretty itchy and growing by the day.

When was your last midwife visit? Last Wednesday (02.15) I had a gestational diabetes screening, anemia test and of course the "classic" pregnancy weigh in.

What are you craving? Still craving fruit and dairy products (cheese, yogurt, chocolate milk, etc).

Do you have names picked out? We have a few names on the table, but no decisions yet. As mentioned before... it will be a secret till he’s born.

How’s the nursery coming along? Actually, we will not have a nursery. We live in too small of a space....! We haven’t bought anything yet, but will probably only buy the essentials.

Here's me at 24 weeks. I had *very* good intentions of taking pictures at every week of the pregnancy, but time has just gotten the best of me.

Here's 28 weeks.

Boy, am I good at taking pictures of myself or what!?

NOLA Part 1 & 2

Not sure if you folks know this or not, but New Orleans (besides Charleston) is my favorite city. I love everything about this city... Bob Dylan describes it best.

“New Orleans, unlike a lot of those places you go back to and that don't have the magic anymore, still has got it. Night can swallow you up, yet none of it touches you. Around any corner, there's a promise of something daring and ideal and things are just getting going....A lazy rhythm looms in the dreamy air and the atmosphere pulsates with bygone duels, past-life romance, comrades requesting comrades to aid them in some way. You can't see it, but you know it's here. Everyone seems to be from some very old Southern families. Either that or a foreigner. I like the way it is.......The city is one very long poem. Gardens full of pansies, pink petunias, opiates. Flower-bedecked shrines, white myrtles, bougainvillea and purple oleander stimulate your senses, make you feel cool and clear inside. " -Bob Dylan, Chronicles, Vol. 1

Thanks, Bob.... love that description.

Alright little back tracking here on the blog timeline. Toward the end of December, Eric joined me for work trip in New Orleans. Just this week, I went back for work and took advantage of the quick trip. A few pictures to share with you all.

You see Santa's sign?? Perhaps not, let's zoom in.

That's right, even Santa is a Saints fan!

Beautiful Jackson Square.

Cafe Du Monde, enough said.

Hot, hubs... also, enough said.

The best food in the country, hands down- in New Orleans. Commander's Palace is at the top of my list. Eric and I were able to enjoy a delightful evening at Commander's celebrating Baby H.

Ok, so this isn't really very "New Orleans", but this is probably my favorite store bought sweet tea. I became addicted to this in college, since it's an Alabama product. I was PUMPED to know they sell this in NOLA, at the local Walgreens. YES!

22 weeks!

alright folks, here we go....

We're doing well here at Casa de Hawkins. I think we either have a water polo player on our hands or someone who will excel in martial arts, because this little boy is kicking away. It's amazing! Especially at 5am.

Details, details

So, I'm getting some FAQ's and I thought I'd post them for all. Just in case your curious.

When are you due?

May 13 (Mother's Day)!

When did you find out?

September 7

First sonogram/first time to hear the heart beat?

September 29

Save me some math, how far along are you?

Today, November 30, I'm 16 weeks and 3 days.

How are you feeling?

Actually, great! I had "evening" sickness for about 4 weeks from wk 6-10.

Is this a surprise? Are you excited?

We prayed and hoped for a little one, though very grateful. We are thrilled!!! (Believe me, I have gotten these questions A LOT!)

Boy or Girl?

Don't know quite yet, our sonogram appointment is December 23.

Preference between the two?

Not at all, just praying for a healthy baby.

Names picked out yet?

No, we haven't really even talked about it!!!! Our name pow-wow's will occur once we know the gender.

Are you going to tell the name?

Nope! You all will have to wait for this surprise.

Cravings? Aversions?

I have been craving fruit and all milk products. No aversions to food, just to overwhelming smells.

There you go folks, hopefully this answers your questions! Baby bump picks to come... stay tuned!

The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy- Ps. 126:3

Family, friends... the time has come to announce with joy, thankfulness and complete awe in the total greatness of God, that we are expecting our first child. We are almost 15 weeks pregnant and due May 13. Baby H, we can't wait to meet you and we are truly honored to be your parents, already....

Psalm 22:9- Yet you brought me safely from my mother’s womb and led me to trust you at my mother’s breast.

Psalm 71:6
Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s
womb you have cared for me.
