Success!
It was a big night last night in the Hawkins household. Luke tried solids for the first time. I decided to start with avocado and had intentions to puree my own food for him. I went to cut the avocado and it had gone bad. So, luckily I had back up. I had purchased several jars of Earth's Best last week and we went with butternut squash. Luke LOVED it! He was literally shoving the food in his mouth. We will stick with squash for the remainder of the week and then go onto a fruit.
For some reason our video of this experience failed miserably, so we will take some pictures tonight and post them tomorrow.

wonder weeks are here again and what's on my phone
So I am the craziness of wonder week 26. Oh joy! 15 minute naps, clingy, fussy and down right mad sometimes. Yup, that's Luke right now. In the meantime... some pictures from this week, enjoy!
For those curious about the Wonder Weeks, here is what they have to say about Week 26,
“At about 26 weeks, your baby will start to show the signs of yet another significant leap in his development. If you watch closely, you will see him doing or attempting to do many new things. Whether or not he is crawling at this stage, he will have become significantly more mobile as he learns to coordinate the action of his arms and legs and the rest of his body. Building on his knowledge of events, he his now able to begin to understand the many kinds of relationships among the things that make up his world.
One of the most significant relationships that your baby can now perceive is the distance between one thing and another. We take this for granted as adults, but for a baby it is an alarming discovery, a very radical change in his world. The world is suddenly a very big place in which he is but a tiny, if very vocal, speck. Something he wants can be on a high shelf or outside the range of his crib, and he has no way of getting to it. His mother can walk away, even if only into the next room, and she might as well have gone to China if he can’t get to her because he’s stuck.”

“New skills your baby is acquiring…
- discovering distance between objects
- understand the concepts of outside, on top, above, next to, underneath, in between, etc.
- cause and effect relationships (ex. flip switch light goes on)
- relates sounds with objects or situations (ex. key in the door means daddy is home, scratching at the door means the dog wants to come in)
- learn when something is out of the ordinary (your drop the milk carton, the glass falls off the table)
- coordinate the movements in his body better. Some babies learn to sit up, other learn to crawls, etc.”
