It's Christmas time in the NYC!

I have been wanting to go to NYC over Christmas since I was a young girl.... and we finally were able to go this past weekend!! And yes, we ventured up during the DC Snowpocalypse of 2009. There are SO many wonderful memories from the weekend, I'll try to give you all my top 15. Yes, 15... I can't name just 10.

1. Waking up to our Taxi texting us to let us know that he was on his way, then looking out the window to see 7 inches of snow already on the ground!

2. While driving to Union Station I asked our cad driver if he had ever driven in snow... his response, "No, this is first time. I'm from Pakistan".

3. Staying in an amazing modern hotel on Bryant Park.

4. Bargained with "upstanding" merchants on Canal St.

5. Eating the most amazing food, ever!

6. Learning that NYC food prices are officially cheaper than DC (real estate prices are looking comparable too).

7. Meeting up with one of our (best) Atlanta friends for dinner, and the restaurant staff told us they would "take care of us"... aka hot tea, baklava.... pure yumminess.

8. The snow followed us from DC to NYC and it was absolutely beautiful.

9. That snow is not so beautiful on the streets post-snow plows and not so kind to our feet either... burrrrrr.

10. Seeing some amazing architecture at the American Folk Art Museum (did I just type that???).

11. Sitting at Penn Station with 10,000 (yes, it felt like that many) other delayed passengers waiting for Amtrak, while the Knicks played the Bobcats above at Madison Square Garden.

12. Checking out 18 miles of books at The Strand bookstore.

13. Seeing Santa skating away at Rockefeller Center ice skating rink.

14. Eating at Pinkberry in Hells Kitchen, who cares if it's snowing... I wanted Eric to experience the swirly goodness.

15. Receiving the Christmas present I have wanted for years and years- a new digital SLR camera. One word, AMAZING!

Check out our photos below.... and yes, some are with the NEW Cannon!

Knoxvegas TIME!

Landon (who is in 9th grade) dressed for the varsity football team! Congrats Landon!!! We are proud of you!

And.... we made it to a UT game!

While we were walking around in the parking lot, I ran into my bible study leader from high school. What a small world!

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

“New Orleans, unlike a lot of those places you go back to and that don't have the magic anymore, still has got it. Night can swallow you up, yet none of it touches you. Around any corner, there's a promise of something daring and ideal and things are just getting going. There's something obscenely joyful behind every door, either that or somebody crying with their head in their hands. A lazy rhythm looms in the dreamy air and the atmosphere pulsates with bygone duels, past-life romance, comrades requesting comrades to aid them in some way. You can't see it, but you know it's here. Somebody is always sinking. Everyone seems to be from some very old Southern families. Either that or a foreigner. I like the way it is. There are a lot of places I like, but I like New Orleans better.” - Excerpted from ''Chronicles, Volume One'' by Bob Dylan

Ohhh New Orleans- amazing food, a great visit with my Uncle, beautiful homes, cooler weather than DC, just an all around good work trip!
